Day 1: Gather at Kibati Patrol Post & Hike Nyiragongo Volcano

You transfer early in the morning at 7am from Goma to Kibati Patrol Post 30 minutes drive to catch up with briefing and eventual Volcano Climbing adventure starting at 9am.

In the company of the park rangers, you embark on the adventure hike one of the world’s most fascinating natural features – the Nyiragongo Volcano with its glowing lava lake standing as the world’s largest and most violent lava lake.

The summit stands at 3,470m and reaching there can last 4 – 6 hours. The hike takes you through the fields of lava and offers remarkable views of the surroundings including the chain of Virunga Mountains.

The accommodation is provided in Mountain Shelters as you wait to explore the red glowing lava lake at night similar to the Mount Mordor – the famous glowing volcano in the fictional middle earth featured in the Movie the Fellowship of the Ring.

Day 2: Sunrise View on Mount Nyiragongo & Descend Back to Kibati & Transfer to Goma

An early wake up is advised to catch up with the amazing sun rise at about 6am amidst the swirling cloud masses from the valleys below.

The overlooking Karisimbi and Bisoke Mountains are also very fascinating to explore at the sun rise. It is an amazing picturesque moment!

From this, you settle for breakfast after which you start to descend down the Volcano enjoying the lava soils and the flora on the slopes before approaching Kibati Patrol post from where you will get into your vehicle and drive back to Goma to mark the end of the 2 days Adventure
