Day 1 of the 17 Days Combined Wildlife & Gorilla Safari in Uganda, Rwanda & Congo: Drive to Murchison Falls National Park & track white Rhinos en route in Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary 

Transfer after breakfast in Kampala (own arrangement) to Murchison Falls National Park 311km about 5 hours drive. You branch off at Nakitoma for 7km the headquarters of Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary from where you settle for briefing and set off to track the southern white Rhinos. You explore the members of the Big five known to be thriving only at this point in the whole of Uganda under the breed and re-stock programme. The Rhinos had got extinct in Uganda by 1983 but they were restored in 2005. From the Rhino tracking, you settle for lunch at Kabalega Diner after which you will proceed on the drive to Murchison Falls National Park arriving in the evening for relaxation, dinner and overnight

Wake up for an early morning cup of coffee after which you head to the northern landscapes of Murchison Falls National Park where the rewarding game viewing experience is carried out. The 3 – 4 hour game drive offers amazing views of the sunrise over the savannah, wild game like Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, Rothschild Giraffe, Uganda Kob, Oribis, Rothschild Giraffes, Jackson’s Hartebeest, Patas Monkeys and defassa Waterbuck among others and remarkable sights of borassus palm. You retreat for relaxation and lunch before gathering at Paara jetty for an afternoon boat cruise to the bottom of the falls. The cruise lasts 3 hours traversing the soothing waters of the Nile offering sights of Nile crocodiles, Hippos and birds like Vulnerable shoebill stork along with the wild game drinking on the river side. You disembark from the boat after reaching the bottom of the falls and embark on the hike to the top of the World’s most powerful waterfall. The trek takes you along the narrow challenging path offering remarkable sights of the Nile River as it squeezes itself to pass through a less than 7m ravine forming a thunderous roar and a plume of spray as it falls below 43m cauldron with a trademark rainbow. You connect with the driver guide at the top of the falls and drive back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight

Day 4 of the 17 Days Combined Wildlife & Gorilla Safari in Uganda, Rwanda & Congo: Undertake Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park & drive to Kasese

At 8am, you are at Kanyanchu Tourism Centre to catch up with briefing by the Park ranger guides detailing what to do and what to avoid in the Chimpanzee forest. You eventually set off to the moist tropical forest of Kibale in the company of an armed ranger guide exploring the natural abundance of this prehistoric site that shelter 13 primate species, 351 Tree species and 375 species of birds. The Chimpanzee trekking normally takes 2 – 5 hours with the actual viewing limited to one hour for purposes of conservation.  You enjoy the Chimpanzees as they forage, munch fruit, play and copulate among others. From the trek, you settle for lunch after which you transfer to Rwenzori Mountains region 135km about 2 hours drive enjoying the amazing sightseeing en route.

You gather at Nyakalengija park station for briefing and eventually set off to the Mountain for a day hiking experience. You trek on the foothills of the legendary Mountains of the moon rising to 5,109m above sea level marked by snow capped peaks. This historical feature was at one believed by Ptolemy a great Greek geographer in 150AD to be the source of the Nile River. The day hike offers remarkable views of mountain flora and the surrounding landscapes including the Albertine flats, Lakes Gorge and Edward, Kazinga Channel and the Kasese town below. Retreat from the activity and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park for relaxation, dinner and overnight

The morning game drive commences at 7am if slept outside the park and before that if you slept inside the park. You drive to Kasenyi Plains in the north east of the park for an extensive wild game viewing experience lasting 3 – 4 hours gaining chances of viewing Lions, Elephants, Uganda Kobs, Leopards, Defassa Waterbuck, Side stripped Jackals, Spotted Hyenas among other wild game along with counts of bird species. Queen Elizabeth National Park features over 600 species of birds making it the first park in Uganda in terms of bird count. Retreat from the game drive and connect to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. At 2pm, you are ready for the Mweya boat cruise departing Mweya jetty to spend two hours along the Kazinga Channel gaining magical sights of Hippos, Nile crocodiles, birds like Great Cormorants and African Skimmers along with wild game drinking on the channel side. The game drive also offers sights of other wildlife like Kobs, Elephants and Waterbucks after which you proceed on the drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

You consider an early wake up for breakfast after which you connect to the gorilla trekking assembly point for briefing starting at 8am. After gorilla family allocation, you gather in your respective groups, undergo briefing by your respective ranger guides and then set off to the mist forest in search of the Mountain Gorillas that are critically endangered world over. The trek takes you through rugged hilly landscapes covered with dense forests. The Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Parks lasts 2 – 8 hours with one full hour of actual viewing. It is a heart moving moment to gaze into the eyes of these gentle giants, view them as they forage, the young ones play and the Silverback demonstrate their might. Retire from the activity and embark on the transfer to Lake Bunyonyi enjoying the views of the fascinating Kigezi Highlands. Spend the evening relaxing by the lake.

Following breakfast, gather at Ntebeko visitor centre for briefing about the day’s adventure before embarking on it. Mount Sabyinyo popularly referred to as the Old man’s teeth rises to 3,669m above sea level taking 8 hours round trip. It is part of the greater Virunga massif comprising of eight (8) Volcanic Mountains thus offering a magical scenic landscape to explore. The summit is marked by a swamp crater while the rugged peaks make it exciting to explore. You return from the climb and spend the evening relaxing at the lodge.

You wake up early for breakfast after which you gather at Kinigi Park Headquarters to enjoy the interesting traditional Intore dance and a soothing cup of Rwandan coffee as you await briefing at 8am.  After the gorilla family allocation, you get into your vehicle with an armed ranger guide and connect to the trail head from which start off the trek in the Mountain Gorilla forest. Perched on the slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes, the gorilla trek in Volcanoes National Park as well includes traversing rugged terrain and dense jungle until you come across these gentle giants as they forage or socialise depending on the time you finally come across them. The direct viewing is limited to one hour for purposes of conservation after which you retreat to the starting point and connect to Gisenyi 110km about 2 hours transfer arriving in the afternoon and spend the rest of the day at leisure enjoying the soothing beach environment.

Connect to the border of Democratic Republic of Congo  at Goma and transfer to Virunga National Park in particular Kibati Patrol post to catch up with briefing at 9am and eventual setting off for the Volcano climbing adventure. Rising to 3470m above sea level, the hike to Nyiragongo Volcano is simple and yet fascinating one offering sights of the surrounding seven volcanoes and the world’s largest and most violent lava lake.  The Nyiragongo hike lasts 4 – 6 hours and night sightseeing of the red glowing lava lake is a memorable wonder that makes the mountain very exciting to explore.

Wake up early in the morning for breakfast after which you gather at the starting point for the low land gorilla trekking in Kahuzi Biega National Park. After the briefing by the park staff, you set off to the lush equatorial jungle and the Volcanoes in search of the Eastern Lowland Gorilla Sub species. The trek through the forest lasts for about four (4) hours inclusive of one (1) magical hour with the Gorillas thriving in their natural habitats. Unlike the Mountain Gorillas, the Eastern Lowland Gorillas are larger in size with gigantic hands, short muzzle and stocky body presenting a more exciting experience. Retreat from the activity and spend the rest of the day at leisure enjoying the lodge. A sightseeing extension to Tshibati Falls can be arranged.

Day 1 of the 12 Days Uganda Rwanda Congo Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari: Arrive at Entebbe International Airport – Uganda and connect to the lodge

The expanse tropical waters of the world’s largest tropical lake – Lake Victoria fronted by lush tropical city mark your courteous welcome into Uganda – the Pearl of Africa. On the peninsular of Entebbe International Airport, you set your first foot in this maiden country and all that meets you are smiling faces of most hospitable people in the region and among these will be our representative who will usher you in to the country. After the meet and greet, you drive to the hotel for relaxation, dinner and overnight

Day 2 of the 12 Days Uganda Rwanda Congo Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari: Drive to Fort Portal, tour the Amabere g’ Nyinamwiru caves, adventure hike to the  Fort Portal Crater Lake field to explore the famous Kyeganywa hill & then transfer to Kibale National Park.

Team up with your safari guide after breakfast to transfer to Fort Portal Area 300km about 5 hours drive from Kampala. The views of the countryside will astonish you along the drive including the Inselberg geological features in Mubende, Lake Wamala viewed at a distance along with human settlement patterns en route. The views of lush tea plantations as you draw close to Fort Portal town also provide a lasting memory.  Settle for lunch in Fort Portal town after which you connect to Nyakasura Area to explore the heritage site of Amabere g’Nyinamwiru caves standing as breast-like features of which the locals presume to be belonging to Nnyinamwiru – the daughter of Bukuku who was a self enthroned king of the Bachwezi. He is noted to have denied the daughter to breastfeed her hard gotten baby – Ndahura on a foretold story that the grand child would kill him and take over the throne. Though he undertook all the measures to stop this, it eventually happened. It is such a historical story worth listening to. After the caves, embark on the hike to Fort Portal crater field hiking the magical Kyeganywa hill to gain notable views of the crater lakes below and the overlooking Rwenzori Mountains. Retire from the activity and transfer to Kibale National Park for relaxation dinner and overnight

Day 3 of the 12 Days Uganda Rwanda Congo Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari: Do Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park – the primate capital of the world besides 12 primate species & Bigodi wetland walk in the afternoon

The briefing for Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park commences at exactly 8am at Kanyanchu Tourism Center and after detailing the dos and don’ts, you head to the lush tropical forest of Kibale with immense biodiversity including 13 primate species including common Chimpanzees, Black and white colobus monkeys, L’hoest Monkey among others, 351 species of trees and 375 bird species including the unique Green breasted pitta and Kibale ground thrush. The search for chimpanzees can last 3 – 5 hours with one full hour of direct viewing. The moment is remarkable as you see them forage, copulate, play and do other behavioral tactics which are magical to explore. In the afternoon, a wetland walk in Bigodi sanctuary is impressive offering probable sights of birds like great blue turaco and gonolecks. Other swamps dwelling species like Sitatunga may also be viewed.  Retire for relaxation, dinner and overnight

   Day 4 of the 12 Days Uganda Rwanda Congo Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Tour Ruboni Community en route, undertake Kazinga Channel boat cruise on arrival & channel track evening game drive 

After a relaxed breakfast, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park 157km about 2 – 3 hours drive enjoying the impressive landscapes of Rwenzori Mountains standing as the third highest mountain in Africa with glacial peaks. A stop at Ruboni community on its foothills presents an insight into the cultural setting of the Bakonjo people that have lived in this area for over 300 hundred years past. Proceed on the drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park to catch up with an afternoon boat cruise along Kazinga Channel departing at 2pm. The 2 hour boat ride offers beautiful views of the channel waters, the birds on the banks including Great Cormorants and African Skimmers and wild game drinking on the channel side like elephants, Buffaloes among others. You retreat from the activity and undertake a game drive along the channel track in Mweya peninsular as you connect to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight

Day 5 of the 12 Days Uganda Rwanda Congo Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari: Undertake a morning game drive in the Kasenyi sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park extensive wild game encounters & afternoon relaxation at the lodge. Optional Maramagambo Forest or Chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura gorge

If you slept inside the park, the game drive can start at 6am but if you slept outside the park, the park gates open at 7am. Kasenyi sector to the north east of the park features an extensive savannah landscape supporting a myriad of wild game including; elephants, lions, Buffaloes, leopards, Side stripped jackals, Spotted Hyenas, Antelopes like Uganda Kobs, Bushbucks, water bucks, Topis among others. The area also features counts of birds that can be viewed along with wildlife. In the afternoon, you can opt to spend time relaxing at the lodge or take an optional nature walk the lush forest of Maramagambo for birds and unique flora. Another alternative is undertaking a chimpanzee trek in Kyambura Gorge or Kalinzu forest for more chimpanzee viewing experience. Retire for dinner and overnight

Following breakfast at the lodge, you set off Bwindi Impenetrable National Park traversing the Ishasha sector in search of tree climbing lions where you gain chances to explore these amazing creatures hanging on the tree branches in the mid day sun. Proceed to Bwindi arriving in the evening for relaxation, dinner and overnight

Day 7 of the 12 Days Uganda Rwanda Congo Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari: Undertake gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with its minimum of 400 mountain gorillas standing as the single habitat with the largest count of these species in the world & transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for an afternoon relaxation

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park featuring a minimum of 400 mountain gorillas presents a remarkable opportunity to explore these critically endangered Apes. The trekking encounter commences at 8am at the respective gorilla trekking region with briefing conducted by the Uganda Wildlife Authority park rangers. This is followed by the trek to the forested hilly landscapes of Bwindi dubbed Impenetrable with beautiful forest cover always covered by mist in the morning, scenic slopes, abundant birdlife and eventually the mountain gorillas. The viewing of these gentle giants is limited to one hour but the entire return trek can last between 2 – 8 hours.  After the trek, you drive to Lake Bunyonyi for an afternoon relaxation and overnight driving through the fascinating Kigezi Highlands

 Day 8 of the 12 Days Uganda Rwanda Congo Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari: Undertake a sun rise boat cruise and drive to Volcanoes National Park 

You take a boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi exploring the lake of a thousand Islands as it has been known because of its count of 29 Islands. The views are spectacular and the life of the Islanders is magical to explore. From the activity, you transfer to Volcanoes National Park 120km about 3 hours drive enjoying the views of the Kigezi Highlands and Virunga Volcanoes. Cross at chanica border and spend the evening relaxing at the lodge.

Day 9 of the 12 Days Uganda Rwanda Congo Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari: Do mountain gorilla trekking in the gorilla highlands of Volcanoes National Park and drive to Gisenyi for an afternoon relaxation on its sandy beaches. An optional boat cruise can be arranged 

This is a second opportunity to explore the critically endangered mountain gorillas but this time in a different habitat. Volcanoes National Park is part of the Virunga volcanoes where the remaining population of Mountain gorillas 480 thrives. The trek commences at the park headquarters Kinigi at 8am with briefing by the park rangers. However, an early arrival offers an opportunity to enjoy the traditional Kinyarwanda performance and a warm cup of home grown Rwandan coffee. After briefing, you drive to the trail head to embark on the hike through the gorilla highlands marked by lush flora and bird life. The eventual encounter with the mountain gorillas is a lifetime moment and a range of photos can be taken and questions about the gorillas can be asked. After one hour of direct viewing, you return to the starting point and embark on the transfer to Gisenyi Lake Kivu 110km about 2 hours drive for an evening recreation and relaxation. An optional boat cruise can be taken to explore this beautiful lake and its Islands. Retire for dinner and overnight

 Day 10 of the 12 Days Uganda Rwanda Congo Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari:  Cross to Congo – Virunga National Park & embark on Nyiragongo mountain hiking

Wake up early enough to transfer to Congo (Goma) about 1 hour drive to catch up with the Nyiragongo Volcano hiking. Gather at Kibati Patrol post from where you will begin the hike from in the company of the Virunga National Park rangers. Enjoy the amazing views and environment of Nyiragongo Volcano noted to feature the largest lava lake in the world. The lava lake is very violent and noted to have had a significant impact on the surrounding environment following its last subsequent eruptions including the 2002 eruption that destroyed half of Goma town 20km away. The accommodation is presented in the mountain shelter and you enjoy the glowing views of the lava lake at night. Nyiragongo Volcano hike lasts between 4 – 6 hours.

Day 11 of the 12 Days Uganda Rwanda Congo Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari: Descend from Nyiragongo Mountain and transfer back to Gisenyi

This is the second day on the mountain and you enjoy the mountain scenery as you trek back to the starting point. From Kibati, you embark on the drive to Gisenyi to relax at the endless sandy beaches refreshing from the 2 day volcano hike. Retire for overnight

Day 12 of the 12 Days Uganda Rwanda Congo Gorilla, Chimpanzee & Wildlife Safari: Drive to Kigali, tour the Gisozi genocide museum and depart  

Drive from Gisenyi to Kigali 358km about 3 hours drive enjoying the scenic Rwandan countryside. After arriving in Kigali city, you tour the Gisozi genocide memorial to learn into the depth of the 1994 tragic ethnic conflict that befell Rwanda leaving over 800,000 people dead. From the museum, do some last minute shopping as you explore Kigali landscapes after which you connect to Kigali International Airport for the flight back home.

Day 2 of the 10 Days Uganda Rwanda Congo Primate Safari: Do a whole day Chimpanzee Habituation & drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park 

Converge at Kanyanchu Tourism Centre at 6am to join other members and park rangers for eventual set off at around 6:30am. It is a whole day experience in the Chimpanzee forest catching up with Chimpanzees as they get out of their nests for their daily routine. You enjoy them as they forage, much fruit, hunt, patrol, socialize, and make pant hooting calls, copulate among other exciting aspects until they build new nests. But because you have to transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, you break off from the Habituation at around 4pm and embark on 157km transfer about 3 hours exploring the amazing sceneries of Mount Rwenzori en route. Retire for relaxation, dinner and overnight

You connect to the park at 7am for a 3 – 4 hour game drive in the savannah stretches of Kasenyi sector to the north east of Queen Elizabeth National Park where chances of viewing a range of wild game including Lions, Elephants, Buffalos, Waterbucks, Side striped jackal, Topis, Oribis, warthogs and Leopard among others. From the game drive, you connect to the lodge for short relaxation and lunch and then connect to Mweya jetty for an afternoon boat ride setting off at 2pm. The boat ride takes 2 hours exploring the amazing beauty of the 45km long Kazinga Channel with possible sights of Nile crocodiles, Hippos, birds like African skimmers and Cormorants not forgetting the wild game drinking on the channel side. From the boat cruise, you take a game drive along the channel track for more wild game viewing as you connect to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight

After breakfast, set off for the transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park sparing sometime en route in Ishasha sector for game drive in search of tree climbing lions and other wild game. It is always a fascinating encounter to view the tree climbing lions hanging in the fig trees of Ishasha presenting lasting picturesque memories. From here, you proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

The Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Parks lasts 2 – 8 hours with one full hour of actual viewing. It is a heart moving moment to gaze into the eyes of these gentle giants, view them as they forage, the young ones play and the Silverback demonstrate their might. Retire from the activity and embark on the transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park driving through the fascinating Kigezi Highlands arriving in the evening for relaxation, dinner and overnight

Day 6 of the 10 Days Uganda Rwanda Congo Primate Safari:  Undertake golden monkey tracking in Mgahinga National Park & transfer to Volcanoes National Park Rwanda

Gather at Ntebeko visitor Centre at 8m and set off for golden monkey tracking on the slopes of Mount Gahinga which is one of the three Volcanoes in the park and part of the greater Virunga massif comprising of eight Mountains straddling across Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo. The golden monkeys are among the endangered species limited in range to the Virunga massif. The golden monkey trek takes about 4 hours with one hour of actual viewing. They normally dwell in the Bamboo zone on the slopes of Mount Gahinga. Retreat from the activity and embark on the drive to Volcanoes National Park Rwanda 68km about 1 ½ – 2 hours drive enjoying the views of Virunga massif.

Day 7 of the 10 Days Uganda Rwanda Congo Primate Safari: Undertake Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park & drive to Lake Kivu Gisenyi

You wake up early for breakfast after which you gather at Kinigi Park Headquarters to enjoy the interesting traditional Intore dance and a soothing cup of Rwandan coffee as you await briefing at 8am.  After the gorilla family allocation, you get into your vehicle with an armed ranger guide and connect to the trail head from which start off the trek in the Mountain Gorilla forest. Perched on the slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes, the gorilla trek in Volcanoes National Park as well includes traversing rugged terrain and dense jungle until you come across these gentle giants as they forage or socialise depending on the time you finally come across them. The direct viewing is limited to one hour for purposes of conservation after which you retreat to the starting point and connect to Gisenyi 110km about 2 hours transfer arriving in the afternoon and spend the rest of the day at leisure enjoying the soothing beach environment.

Transfer by boat from Gisenyi and sail across Lake Kivu to the South Kivu Province of Democratic Republic of Congo. You enjoy the amazing sceneries of Lake Kivu Islands and the expanse water mass. Upon arrival in Bukavu, connect to the lodge and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 9 of the 10 Days Uganda Rwanda Congo Primate Safari: Undertake Eastern Lowland Gorilla Trekking in Kahuzi Biega National Park

Wake up early in the morning for breakfast after which you gather at the starting point for the low land gorilla trekking in Kahuzi Biega National Park. After the briefing by the park staff, you set off to the lush equatorial jungle and the Volcanoes in search of the Eastern Lowland Gorilla Sub species. The trek through the forest lasts for about four (4) hours inclusive of one (1) magical hour with the Gorillas thriving in their natural habitats. Unlike the Mountain Gorillas, the Eastern Lowland Gorillas are larger in size with gigantic hands, short muzzle and stocky body presenting a more exciting experience. Retreat from the activity and spend the rest of the day at leisure enjoying the lodge. A sightseeing extension to Tshibati Falls can be arranged.

Day 1 of the 8 Days Rwanda Congo Uganda Safari Tour: Tour the Gisozi genocide memorial & drive to Volcanoes National Park

Following breakfast at your place of stay in Kigali (Own arrangement), you embark on the tour to the Kigali Genocide memorial positioned at Gisozi one of the suburbs of Kigali city to explore into the dark history of destination Rwanda. The Museum is a living testimony of the 1994 horrific ethnic driven genocide that befell Rwanda leaving over 800,000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus dead. From the genocide site tour, you settle for lunch and then set off for the drive 116km about 2 ½ – 3 hours drive exploring the scenic Rwanda countryside marked by beautiful hills that have earned her a dub as the land of a thousand hills. You arrive in Ruhengeri / Volcanoes National Park and spend the rest of the day at leisure enjoying the beauty of the lodge

Day 2 of the 8 Days Rwanda Congo Uganda Safari Tour: Do Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park & drive to Lake Kivu – Gisenyi for relaxation

You wake up early for breakfast after which you gather at Kinigi Park Headquarters to enjoy the interesting traditional Intore dance and a soothing cup of Rwandan coffee as you await briefing at 8am.  After the gorilla family allocation, you get into your vehicle with an armed ranger guide and connect to the trail head from which start off the trek in the Mountain Gorilla forest. Perched on the slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes, the gorilla trek in Volcanoes National Park as well includes traversing rugged terrain and dense jungle until you come across these gentle giants as they forage or socialise depending on the time you finally come across them. The direct viewing is limited to one hour for purposes of conservation after which you retreat to the starting point and connect to Gisenyi 110km about 2 hours transfer arriving in the afternoon and spend the rest of the day at leisure enjoying the soothing beach environment.

Connect to the border of Democratic Republic of Congo  at Goma and transfer to Virunga National Park in particular Kibati Patrol post to catch up with briefing at 9am and eventual setting off for the Volcano climbing adventure. Rising to 3470m above sea level, the hike to Nyiragongo Volcano is simple and yet fascinating one offering sights of the surrounding seven volcanoes and the world’s largest and most violent lava lake.  The Nyiragongo hike lasts 4 – 6 hours and night sightseeing of the red glowing lava lake is a memorable wonder that makes the mountain very exciting to explore.

Following breakfast, you set off for the transfer to Uganda Savannah park of Queen Elizabeth National Park 289km about 8hours drive with an en route game drive in the park’s southern sector of the park to look out for the tree climbing lions. Besides the tree climbing lions, the drive also offers possibilities of viewing Elephants, Defassa waterbuck, Kobs, Topis among others. From this encounter, you drive to the northern sector of the park for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

You connect to the park at 7am for a 3 – 4 hour game drive in the savannah stretches of Kasenyi sector to the north east of Queen Elizabeth National Park where chances of viewing a range of wild game including Lions, Elephants, Buffalos, Waterbucks, Side striped jackal, Topis, Oribis, warthogs and Leopard among others. From the game drive, you connect to the lodge for short relaxation and lunch and then connect to Mweya jetty for an afternoon boat ride setting off at 2pm. The boat ride takes 2 hours exploring the amazing beauty of the 45km long Kazinga Channel with possible sights of Nile crocodiles, Hippos, birds like African skimmers and Cormorants not forgetting the wild game drinking on the channel side. Following breakfast at your hotel in Kigali, you embark on the transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park to the south west of Rwanda enjoying impressive sceneries of Rwandan countryside. En route stops will be made in Nyanza to explore the Royal Palace of the traditional Rwandan monarchical Kingship with the two of the Kings known to have occupied it including; King Musinga and King Rudahigwa. The site features a very beautiful traditional hut, Inyambo cows and Intore dance group that combine to make the stop very exciting. From Nyanza, you proceed to Butare where you will settle for lunch and tour the National Museum of Rwanda with over 100,000 artifacts detailing the Rwanda’s heritage and history. Drive to the forest of Kyamudongo which is a section of Nyungwe Forest National Park at 5am so as to arrive in time for briefing. Rwandan Development Board staff conducts briefing at 8am local time after which you set off to the montane forest of Nyungwe in search of Chimpanzees. The forest is very diverse with other 12 primate species including Black and White Colobus Monkeys, birds and lush flora thus the 2 – 5 hours trek will go beyond the search for the Chimpanzees only. You have one full hour of direct Chimpanzee viewing after which you get to the starting point and connect to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. In the afternoon (2pm), you gather at Uwinka visitor centre to embark on the canopy walking adventure encounter. The two hour canopy walk offers magical views of the lush montane forest, the deep gorge, birds and primates. Retire for relaxation and overnight

Day 5 of the 17 Days Cross Border Adventure Safari in Rwanda & Congo:   Do Eastern Lowland Gorilla Trekking & transfer by boat to Idjwi Island. Explore the Island village, the King’s Museum, Quinquinas & Pineapple plantations

You gather at the starting point for briefing after which you set off to the forest in the company of the armed park rangers in search of the Eastern Low land Gorilla Subspecies. It is a fascinating journey through the jungle of Kahuzi Biega National Park known to be the main sanctuary for these gorilla sub species. You traverse the sections of the Congo rain forest before encountering the volcanic soils on the Kahuzi and Biega volcanoes. The trek tends to last four (4) hours with one (1) hour of actual gorilla viewing. From the jungle, you transfer by boat to Idjwi Island in Lake Kivu. You use a motorbike to get to the lodge and then base from there to visit the King’s Museum and plantations of Pineapple and Quinquinas.

Transfer by Motorbike to the dock and then transfer by boat to Goma in the North Kivu Province. You enjoy spectacular views of Virunga Volcanoes the chain of eight (8) mountains that straddle from Uganda through Rwanda to Democratic Republic of Congo. The most amazing one is Nyiragongo Volcano which has the world’s largest and most violent lava lake whose eruptions have had a dangerous effect to the neighbouring areas including the 2002 eruption that destroyed half of Goma town. Virunga National Park is also home to the critically endangered Mountain Gorillas thus an optional tracking encounter can be arranged. Retire for relaxation and overnight.

Extending to 63,000km2, the great Ituri forest is also the home to the Okapi Wildlife Reserve which covers 1/5 of its land. The forest is marked by fascinating Ituri River and the indigenous Bambuti pygmies. There are over 5000 Okapis thriving in Okapi Wildlife Reserve and these species are endemic to Democratic Republic of Congo on world scale. Other wildlife includes among others Elephants, Leopards, Chimpanzees, Crocodiles, forest Buffalos, water Chevrotain and over 300 species of birds. You have chances of exploring some of these natural offers as you trek through the forest to the dwelling area of Mbuti Pygmies.

You have a once in a life time moment with the Mbuti pygmies in their ancient lands learning more about their hunter gatherer culture, and the reliance on the forest for general survival including medical care, shelter and food. About 30,000 – 40,000 Mbuti Pygmies still thrive bringing an interconnection between the modern and the ancient world. Retreat from the Mbuti area and trek back to Epulu.

Following breakfast at your place of stay in Kigali (Own arrangement), you embark on the tour to the Kigali Genocide memorial positioned at Gisozi one of the suburbs of Kigali city to explore into the dark history of destination Rwanda. The Museum is a living testimony of the 1994 horrific ethnic driven genocide that befell Rwanda leaving over 800,000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus dead. From the genocide site tour, you settle for lunch and then set off for the drive to Akagera National Park 135km about 2 ½ hour’s drive to the east of Rwanda enjoying the amazing Rwandan hillsides and the overlooking Tanzanian plains before arriving at the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight

You set off early in the morning after a thrilling cup of coffee for an exciting game viewing experience in the savannah stretches of Akagera National Park. The park stands as the only savannah protected habitat in the whole of Rwanda thus is a collection point for a range of species that thrive in such environment. The game drive in Akagera National Park offers possible views of elephants, lions, Buffalos, elands, Defassa waterbucks, Topis, Maasai Giraffe, leopards, Impalas, Zebras among other species. The game drive lasts 3 – 4 hours after which you connect back to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. In the afternoon, you take on a thrilling boat ride on Lake Ihema – the second largest in Rwandan gaining chances of viewing Nile crocodiles, Hippos and birds not forgetting the stretch of the largest protected wetland system in the whole of Central Africa.

Following breakfast, set off for the transfer to Nyungwe National Park 403km about 8 hours drive to the Rwanda’s south west.  You drive through Kigali City before proceeding to the southern province making a lunch stop in Butare after which you tour the National Museum. The National Museum of Rwanda stands as one of the largest Museums in East Africa with over 100,000 artifacts detailing the history and heritage of Rwanda. From the Museum, you proceed on the drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park arriving in the evening for relaxation, dinner and overnight

Drive to the forest of Kyamudongo which is a section of Nyungwe Forest National Park at 5am so as to arrive in time for briefing. Rwandan Development Board staff conducts briefing at 8am local time after which you set off to the montane forest of Nyungwe in search of Chimpanzees. The forest is very diverse with other 12 primate species including Black and White Colobus Monkeys, birds and lush flora thus the 2 – 5 hours trek will go beyond the search for the Chimpanzees only. You have one full hour of direct Chimpanzee viewing after which you get to the starting point and connect to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. In the afternoon (2pm), you gather at Uwinka visitor centre to embark on the canopy walking adventure encounter. The two hour canopy walk offers magical views of the lush montane forest, the deep gorge, birds and primates. Retire for relaxation and overnight

Wake up early in the morning for breakfast after which you gather at the starting point for the low land gorilla trekking in Kahuzi Biega National Park. After the briefing by the park staff, you set off to the lush equatorial jungle and the Volcanoes in search of the Eastern Lowland Gorilla Sub species. The trek through the forest lasts for about four (4) hours inclusive of one (1) magical hour with the Gorillas thriving in their natural habitats. Unlike the Mountain Gorillas, the Eastern Lowland Gorillas are larger in size with gigantic hands, short muzzle and stocky body presenting a more exciting experience. Connect to the border of Democratic Republic of Congo  at Goma and transfer to Virunga National Park in particular Kibati Patrol post to catch up with briefing at 9am and eventual setting off for the Volcano climbing adventure. Rising to 3470m above sea level, the hike to Nyiragongo Volcano is simple and yet fascinating one offering sights of the surrounding seven volcanoes and the world’s largest and most violent lava lake.  The Nyiragongo hike lasts 4 – 6 hours and night sightseeing of the red glowing lava lake is a memorable wonder that makes the mountain very exciting to explore.

You wake up early for breakfast after which you gather at Kinigi Park Headquarters to enjoy the interesting traditional Intore dance and a soothing cup of Rwandan coffee as you await briefing at 8am.  After the gorilla family allocation, you get into your vehicle with an armed ranger guide and connect to the trail head from which start off the trek in the Mountain Gorilla forest. Perched on the slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes, the gorilla trek in Volcanoes National Park as well includes traversing rugged terrain and dense jungle until you come across these gentle giants as they forage or socialise depending on the time you finally come across them. You wake up early for breakfast after which you gather at Kinigi Park Headquarters to enjoy the interesting traditional Intore dance and a soothing cup of Rwandan coffee as you await briefing at 8am.  After the gorilla family allocation, you get into your vehicle with an armed ranger guide and connect to the trail head from which start off the trek in the Mountain Gorilla forest. Perched on the slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes, the gorilla trek in Volcanoes National Park as well includes traversing rugged terrain and dense jungle until you come across these gentle giants as they forage or socialise depending on the time you finally come across them. On your arrival to Kigali international airport, you will be met by our professional driver guide who will transfer you to Mikeno Lodge in Virunga National Park in DRC. The drive transfer of about 3-4 hours without enroute stopovers to Mikeno lodge in Virunga national park will take through majestic landscape sceneries venerated with unique natural setting and local populations. After an early morning relaxed breakfast, you will be driven to the Bukima park station in the Virunga National Park area where trekkers assemble at 7:00am to be allocated a gorilla group, be  briefed on how to ”behave” while staying  with a gorilla group. After the briefing, you will proceed to the appropriate starting point for the trek to confront the gorilla group you have been allocated. The length of the trek varies depending on movements of the gorillas as well as weather conditions. Meeting these gentle giants in their natural habitat is a unique and wonderful experience. When you meet these ape species, you will be given one hour to observe and take photos of these stunning Apes. After breakfast, you will embark on 30 kms transfer drive from your Mikeno lodge to Kibat Patrol Post in Nyiragongo Volcano. On arrival to the hike trail head, Park rangers will lead you with your porters to start hiking to the top of Nyiragongo Volcanoes.  Nyiragongo Volcano hike will take you around 4-6 hours to reach to the summit of the world’s most active Volcano. The path to the summit of the Volcano is relatively easy but a bit strenuous, often in hot and uncomfortable conditions. Along the trial, you may enjoy the views and sights of rare bird species and small mammal species. Upon reaching the top, you will enjoy the views of lakes of hot lava and relax on top of the volcano. The night will be spent in tents on the rim of the giant crater, high above the active lava lake.

Day 4 of the 6 Days Mountain Gorilla trekking Safari Tour in DR Congo and Rwanda: Descend from Nyiragongo Volcano and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda.

After an early morning breakfast, you will begin your descent by 7:00am from the summit of Nyiragongo to the head trail in Kibat Patrol Post. Arrive at the trail head before lunch and transfer to the lodge to have lunch and relaxation. After lunch, embark on transfer distance of 162 kilometers from Virunga to Volcanoes National for yet another interesting mountain gorilla trekking experience of its own. The transfer journey will take you through the impressive country side landscapes with rural setting and local populations as you head to the Volcanoes National Park. In the morning after hearty breakfast, you will be driven by your driver guide to the park headquarters for a briefing at 70:30am to 8:00am regarding gorilla trekking etiquettes in Volcanoes Park. While at the park headquarters, you will meet other trekkers and you will be divided in groups of eight individuals who are allowed to trek one habituated mountain gorilla group. After briefing, you will be led by ranger guide to hike through the verdant jungle searching for mountain gorillas. The activity which will take 2-8 hours needs someone to be physical fit since it involves a lot of hiking the hills and slopping the Valleys. Gorilla trekking process is tedious but impressive when you finally set your small eyes direct to bit big round eyes of the mountain gorillas. When you eventually meet the gorillas, you will  be allowed one hour with them, seeing them feed, play and look for their young ones. While staying with the gorillas, you will be required to maintain a distance of 7 meters away, also turn off the flash of your camera as you take pictures. Right after one hour, you will retire back to the starting point and transfer to your lodge for late lunch and relaxation. After lunch, you will embark on an evening cultural encounter with the local communities around volcanoes national park. The cultural encounter will give you a rare opportunity to interact with the local people in their natural environment, with a taste of their unique culture and traditions. After relaxation, you will embark on an evening cultural encounter with the local people around Nyungwe Forest National Park. Day 2: Early Morning Chimpanzee trekking and Afternoon Canopy Walk

After your early morning breakfast, you will drive to the park headquarters for an early morning briefing about the dos and don’ts of Chimpanzee trekking in the loviest forest of Nyungwe national park. Nyungwe National Forest is an ideal destination for lovers of primates, with 13 different species living. In the park you will be divided in groups of 8 trekkers who only authorized to trek one habituated Chimpanzee group. At exactly 8:30am, you will be led by the ranger guide through the beautiful forest trail to trek the fascinating chimpanzee creatures. Along the trails you may enjoy the nice melodies of different bird species housed in the forest and you may also have chance to enjoy the views of other primates like grey-cheeked mangabey, monkeys. The activity takes between 2-6 hours but experienced guides will also make sure that they take you where you will have to see the primates as fast as possible. Face to face encounter with the chimpanzees is very amazing because you will observe them play, feed and rest. After this worthwhile experience, you will head back to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, embark on adventurous canopy walk to see the beautiful twin lakes as well as various bird species. Participate in Nature walks in the ever green forests of Nyungwe. After briefing,you will head for the memorable adventure of tracking the lowland gorillas in Kahuzi Biega National park. Trekking lowland Gorillas is very amazing, lowland Gorillas differ from the mountain gorillas, the lowland gorillas are bigger in size, usually takes 1-4 hours trekking the lowland Gorillas. In the morning after breakfast, embark on transfer drive to Kigali Capital City. The drive journey will take you through Bukavu in Congo crossing via Cyangugu boarder to Rwanda. You will have an en route stop in Butare, where you will visit the national museum of Rwanda, the king’s palace in Nyanza, and the Rwanda genocide memorial site. On arrival to Kigali, you will have your lunch and thereafter advance with the drive to Kigali International Air Port for your scheduled flight back home.

Day1: Arrive at Entebbe International Airport and Transfer to Kampala

On arrival at Entebbe international Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our professional driver guide and then be transferred to your booked Kampala lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.  The distance from Entebbe to Kampala is about 42 kilometers about 45minutes drive but due to Entebbe-Kampala evening jam, it will take one and half hours’ drive.

Day 2: Kampala City Tour- City tour to Cultural, Religious and Historical Attractions.

After taking your early morning breakfast, you will be picked up by your experienced guide and embark on City tour. Kampala Capital city is a unique destination of its own and thus taking Uganda safari without exploring the City makes your Uganda Safari Incomplete. The city is a hub of various attractions ranging from historical to cultural and religious attractions. On your first day of your 10 days safari in Uganda, you will wake up very early in the morning and take your breakfast in your Kampala Lodge. The Company experienced guide will pick your up and embark on the city tour. The City tour encounter will take your through religious attractions sunch as Namirembe and Rubaga Cathedrals local with in Kampala Center, Baha’i temple- the only one in Africa situated in Kikaya Hill overlooking Kampala City, Gadhafi Mosque dubbed after late president Gadhafi’s contribution to its construction .The safari then links you to famous Cultural attractions like Kasubi tombs, Kabaka’s palace, Kabaka’s Lake, historical monuments and museums like the Uganda National Museum, National buildings like the parliament, educational Institutions like Makerere University, Traditional hospitals like Mulago hospital, Mengo and Nsambya hospitals.  However, Due to the fact that all these attractions cannot explore in one single day, you will be required to choose the ones you can tour in one day. Day 3: Transfer to Murchison falls National Park and do enroute Rhino trekking in Ziwa

After your early morning breakfast in your Kampala Lodge, the driver guide will pick you up and embark on the 5hours drive on the north western side of Uganda to Murchison Falls National Park. The drive from Kampala will take you through the flat landscapes of Nakasongora with savannah vegetation dotted with long horned Ankole cows. After covering distance of 115km from Kampala in Nakitoma, you branch from the mainly route and drive 7 km to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. While at the Sanctuary, you will explore the only white Rhinos protected in this part of Uganda .You will also have your wonderful Lunch at Kabalega dinner and thereafter proceed with the drive to Murchison Falls National park for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Do morning game drive, afternoon boat cruise and hike to the top of the falls

After taking cup of coffee, embark on the drive through the park in search of the elusive wild game. The rolling savannah combretum of Murchison Falls National Park supports a range of wild game including the elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, water buck, Jackson hartebeest, oribis, lions, leopards among others The early morning drive through the well-arranged driving tracks of the delta area, Buligi tracks, Albert and Queen tracks provides thrilling opportunity for you to enjoy the views of elusive wild game. After rewarding drive of 3 – 4 hours, you will retreat back to the lodge for relaxation, lunch while waiting for an afternoon boat cruise. After lunch and having rest, you drive to Paraa to link-up with the afternoon Lunch Cruise that sets of at 2:30pm and takes 3-4 hours of adventure. Taking boat cruise to the bottom of the Nile will not only reward you with the encounters of the wild game when they are drinking on the river side, but it also takes you to an area where you can have clear glimpse of wildlife species like Hippos, Nile Crocodiles and a range of water birds such as the endangered species of the Shoebill Stork. After exploring the boat cruise to the bottom of the falls, you will turn to hiking through narrow path to the top of the falls. Upon reaching the top, you will enjoy the roaring sounds of the Nile as it crumbles its head on the impermeable rocks that have narrowed its way to less than 8m for centuries past. Thereafter that life time experience, you will to your lodge for dinner, experience sharing and overnight.

Day 5: Transfer to Hoima with tour to Kibiro Salt Gardens on the shores of Lake Albert

On your third day of the safari, you will wake-up early, take your early morning breakfast in your Murchison lodge and thereafter embark on the transfer to Hoima. The drive journey will take you through the interesting Albertine escarpment exclusive sceneries of the rift valley and it will connect you to the oil region in Bulisa. After that rewarding drive, you will arrive in Kibiro Salt Gardens and hot springs where you will be exposed to skillful local methods of fine salt extraction only found in this part of Uganda. Besides the Kibiro salt Gardens, you will enjoy the views of the famous Lake Albert and the sights of the great Blue Mountains on the Democratic Republic of Congo. From here, you will continue with the drive to Hoima for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

After your early morning cup of coffee, you will embark on 5 hours’ drive from Hoima to Fort portal dubbed the tourism town of Uganda due to its strategic location in the middle of different natural wonders that make Uganda the pearl of Africa. The drive will take you through the impressive country side landscapes with rural setting and local populations. Arrive in Fort Portal town for lunch after which you will continue to do the Fort Portal Crater Lake Hike to gain impressive views of the Fort Portal explosion crater. You will also visit the Amabere g’ Nnyinamwiru caves with a magical Nyakasura River falling over them forming beautiful water fall. The caves have breast like features which the locals attach a great cultural connotation and are thought to date back to the Chwezi era. Retreat from the activity and get to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Do morning Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi wetland walk in the afternoon

After early morning breakfast, embark on the memorable Chimpanzee trekking encounter in the natural habitat of primate Capital of the world – the Kibale Forest National Park. The Park is proud of 13 primate species including the world endangered species of the Chimpanzees which have been fully habituated increasing the chance of encountering them to 90%. The chimp trekking encounter in the primates Capital starts at Kanyanchu tourism center at 8:00am local time in the morning and the experienced Uganda Wildlife Authority Park rangers are dedicated to lead you throughout the whole rewarding processes of trekking the Chimps in their natural Habitat. The trek exposes you to stunning flora, other primate species including black and white colobus monkey and birds before meeting face to face with the chimps. The Chimpanzees will lure you in a state of amazement as they swing through the branches, make pant hooting calls, play with each other, and imitate your body language along with other features that will make your one full hour with them a memorable experience of its own. Retreat from the activity which tends to take 2 – 5 hours to embark on the transfer to Bigodi wetland. The Bigodi wetland, lies in close distance to the park thus connecting there is less hectic. The Bigodi wetland walk exposes you to typical eco –tourism encounter in Uganda. The impressive flora and fauna existing along with the local community is indeed rewarding to encounter. Day 8: Transfer from Kibale to Semliki National Park

In the morning after an early morning breakfast, embark on transfer to Semliki for yet another remarkable experience of encountering unique wildlife species. The drive distance of 78kms about 2-3hours on rough road will take you through the impressive country side landscapes with rural setting and local populations. Upon your arrival to the park, you will drive to the lodge to check-in, have lunch and afterwards proceed to do an afternoon visit to the Hot springs. The long trail which takes like one hour leads you to the outer parts meeting the Male” spring and the trail continues through a patch of forest where you may watch the red-tailed monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys and black-and-white colobus monkeys. The 30-minutes hike through palm forest from the main road will lead you to the inner, “female” spring, mostly occupied by a boiling geyser where you can do live experiment of boiling Eggs and matooke within period of 30 minutes in boiling hot springs water. After the activity, you will retire back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Do Game Drive and Afternoon Cultural Encounters with the Batwa Community

After your early morning breakfast, you will embark on early morning game drive through the well-established three tracks that cross the savannah grassland of Toro Semliki Wildlife Reserve. The early morning game drive rewards you with the views of the smaller forest and larger savannah elephants, buffalo, waterbuck, crocodile, warthog and the Ugandan bird species called the Uganda kob. With luck, you may have chance see pygmy hippopotami as well as leopards and elusive bush babies. After 3-4 hours game drive, you will retreat back to your lodge for relaxation, lunch as you wait for an evening cultural encounter with the local communities around Semulki National Park. Embark on drive to the local community to have refreshing cultural interaction with the Batwa also dubbed the Pygmies in Uganda. The encounter will expose you to the local lifestyle of the Batwa people and the local guide will guide you to local homesteads, schools. Wake up early morning, take your breakfast and embark on transfer from Semliki to Queen Elizabeth National Park drive distance of 196kilometres about 3-4hours drive along rough road. The drive will take you through the impressive country side landscapes with rural setting and local people that you will be by-passing on your way to Queen. On your arrival to the park, you will connect to Mweya for lunch and an afternoon Kazinga Channel adventurous boat cruise which will offer you possibilities of encountering Hippos, Nile crocodiles, wild game drinking on the channel side and counts of water birds. Retire to your lodge in the evening for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 11: Do an Early Morning game drive & afternoon boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel.

After a relaxed breakfast, embark on the transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park 157km about 3 hours’ drive excluding stops en route. You will make a stop at Rwenzori Art foundation – the only bronze casting center in Africa in the shadows of Rwenzori Mountains. The process of sculpture making of which you will be free to participate in will be rewarding. The extension to visit the Ruboni community wax and craft center expose you the local traditions and the applicability of indigenous knowledge to contemporary development. Continue to the Queen Elizabeth National Park, drive through the crater are with possible views of the olive baboons and elephants not forgetting magical sceneries before connecting to Mweya for an afternoon Kazinga Channel boat cruise which will offer you possibilities of encountering Hippos, Nile crocodiles , wild game drinking on the channel side and counts of water birds. Retire in the evening for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 12: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and enroute Ishasha Game Drive

After an early morning breakfast, embark on the interesting drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The drive will take you through the prominent Ishasha sector where you will have possibilities of encountering tree climbing lions that tend to lie on the branches of fig trees and also have stopover for Lunch. Afterwards continue with the drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park arriving in the evening for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 13: Do gorilla trekking & an evening Cultural encounter with the Batwa Communities.

After your early morning hefty breakfast, your driver guide will drive you with your packed lunch, bottled water, to the Park head Quarters in your respective gorilla trekking region for an early morning  briefing at round 7:30am to 8:00am about  etiquettes of gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. While at the park headquarters, you will meet other trekkers and you will be divided into groups of eight individuals who are only allowed to trek one habituated Gorilla family. After briefing, UWA experienced ranger guide will lead you to the trail heads where thrilling gorilla trekking experience starts from. You will entre in the ancient, thick, dark impenetrable forest to begin hiking the hills and slopping the valleys when looking for the unique species of the mountain gorillas inhabited in the famous Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

The trek can take you between 2-8 hours to meet face to face with the mountain gorillas and once up close, you will be allowed to spend one magical hour with these stunning apes. During this time you can decide to sit down listen to gorilla crumble, study how these apes go about their daily activities and you can take as many photos as possible. When the one hour is done, you will walk back to the park headquarters and retire back to your lodge for late Lunch, relaxation. After relaxation, you will be driven to the nearby Batwa community for memorable, refreshing cultural encounter.  Here you will be guided by a local guide who will take you to the different communities to see how people have managed to survive through farming.  You will see how local brew is processed from fresh Bananas and forest remedies to get beer and Waragi and also enjoy the performances done by the local Batwa women groups. After that interesting cultural encounter, you will drive back to your respective lodge for dinner and overnight. Thereafter the activity, you will retreat back to your lodge for dinner, memory sharing and overnight.

After an early morning breakfast, you will depart Bwindi driving through the fascinating Kigezi Highlands for an afternoon boat cruise, relaxation, dinner and overnight in Lake Bunyonyi. Lake Bunyonyi is another major tourist stopover that is undeniably amazing. It is the second deepest lake in Africa; it contains lots of the tasty crayfish, so get set for a culinary delight. Bunyonyi is a local word that means “many small birds” in direct translation. It’s a perfect stopover for committed birders and travellers who are from hectic gorilla trekking activities. On arrival to Lake Bunyonyi, you will drive to your lodge for check-in, lunch and you proceed to catch up with the afternoon boat cruise ,also participate in refreshing activities such as swimming in the bilharzia free waters of Bunyonyi, you can also enjoy the evening nature walks in the Bunyonyi Islands .After exploring the different adventurous activities in lake Bunyonyi, you will retire to your lodge to chill in the fire place while enjoying cool evening of Bunyonyi, have your dinner and overnight.

Day 15: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi and Do Batwa Heritage trail

After an early morning breakfast, you will embark on drive transfer of 80kms from Bunyonyi to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. On arrival to the park, you will drive direct to your pre-booked lodge in Mgahinga National Park for relaxation and lunch. After lunch, embark on exploring the Batwa trail. The Batwa Trail is such an incredible experience as it takes you through the thick forests of Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. During this Batwa trail tour, the Batwa local guide will demonstrate to you their hunting techniques; how they used to gather honey; point out medicinal plants and demonstrate how to make bamboo cups. The tour will lead you to sacred Garama Cave- once home to the Batwa King, where the women of the community perform a sorrowful song which echoes eerily around the depths of the dark cave, and leaves you with a striking and moving sense of the richness of this fading culture. Thereafter fully exploring the Batwa trail, you will retire back to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 16: Do early morning Golden Monkey trekking and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

After an early morning breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for an early morning briefing about the etiquettes to follow when trekking the golden monkeys in the hilly forested areas of Mgahinga national park. After briefing, UWA Ranger guides will lead you to Gahinga trail head to start the trek. You will start the hike through stunning bamboo forests to see this attractive and endangered primate. Once-up close to the golden monkeys, you will be allowed one hour to spend with these striking creatures. After the one hour, you will retreat to the starting point and thereafter drive back to the lodge for refreshment and lunch. After lunch, embark on transfer drive of 68kms about 1-2 hours from Mgahinga Gorilla Park in Uganda to Volcanoes national park in Rwanda. The drive journey will take you through impressive landscape sceneries of south western part of Uganda before crossing to the hilly landscape of Rwanda through Cyanika border. On arrival to Volcanoes National Park, you will drive to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 17: Do Gorilla Trekking and Musanze Cave tour.

After an early morning ebullient breakfast, you will be transferred by your driver guide to the park headquarters for a briefing at 7:30am to 8:00am regarding gorilla trekking etiquettes in Volcanoes Park. While at the park headquarters, you will meet other trekkers and you will be divided in groups of eight individuals who are allowed to trek one habituated mountain gorilla group. After briefing, you will be led by ranger guide to hike through the verdant jungle searching for mountain gorillas. The activity which will take 2-8 hours needs someone to be physical fit since it involves a lot of hiking the hills and slopping the Valleys. Gorilla trekking process is tedious but impressive when you finally set your small eyes direct to bit big round eyes of the mountain gorillas. When you eventually meet the gorillas, you will  be allowed one hour with them, seeing them feed, play and look for their young ones. While staying with the gorillas, you will be required to maintain a distance of 7 meters away, also turn off the flash of your camera as you take pictures. Right after one hour, you will retire back to the starting point and transfer to your lodge for late lunch and relaxation. After lunch, embark on Musanze Cave tour through the tourist walkways, trails and stairs that take you to the dark interior of the caves that illustrates a picture of a house with several rooms and corridors. The tour will offer you an in-depth understanding of the geological, geographical as well as historical development of the globe. After exploring the cave, retreat back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 18: Trek to Dian Fossey Tomb and Transfer to Lake Kivu.

After an early morning breakfast, embark on trek to Dian Fossey Tomb. The trek will offer you golden opportunity to visit the Dian Fossey Tomb and visit the house where this prominent American researcher was killed from and also listen to the experienced guide explain to you the history of the fallen conservationist. Afterwards, you will retire back to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. After lunch, embark on transfer drive of 62kms about 1-2hour to Lake Kivu in Gisenyi town. On arrival to Gisenyi town, you will drive direct to your pre-booked lodge within Lake Kivu for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 19: An Early Morning boat cruise to Virgin Islands and Transfer to Nyungwe forest National Park.

After an early morning breakfast, embark on boat cruise to explore the Virgin Islands like the Napoleon’s Hat Island. While at Hat Island, you may ascend to the peak of the hat to view thousands of Angola bats in the blue skies. You may also enjoy swimming in the, Crocodile free, bilharzia free water of Lake Kivu. After exploring the adventurous activities retire back to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. After lunch, embark on transfer journey of 189 kms about 4-5hours drive without enroute stopover. The fascinating drive will take you through impressive hilly landscape of Rwanda. When you arrive in the park, you will proceed to your pre-booked lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 20: Early morning Chimpanzee trekking and Afternoon Canopy Walk.

After your early morning breakfast, you will drive to the park headquarters for memorable primate’s encounter. Nyungwe National Forest is an ideal destination for lovers of primates, with 13 different species living. You will have the opportunity to trek the chimpanzees in their natural habitat. In the park you will be briefed by the park ranger guides and divided in groups of 8 people. At exactly 8:00am, you will be led by the ranger guide through the beautiful forest trail to trek the fascinating chimpanzee creatures. Along the trails you will enjoy the nice melodies of different bird species housed in the forest and you will also have chance to enjoy the views of other primates like grey-cheeked mangabey, monkeys. The activity takes between 2-6 hours but experienced guides will also make sure that they take you where you will have to see the primates as fast as possible. Face to face encounter with the chimpanzees is very amazing because you will observe them play, feed and rest. After this worthwhile experience, you will head back to the lodge for lunch and later explore canopy walk to see the beautiful twin lakes as well as various bird species.

Day 21: Transfer to Kigali with en route visit to the King’s Palace at Nyanza, Butare Museums and Murambi Genocide Memorial Site.

After an early morning cup of coffee, embark on the fascinating journey transfer of 225kms about 6-7 hours’ drive without enroute stopovers. The drive will take you through amazing sceneries all around the area. The driver guide will drive slowly to allow you capture the best photographs. You will have lunch enroute and a number of stopovers at Butare National Museum, Nyanza (Rukali) as well as Malaba coffee factory, Murambi Genocide Memorial Site plus other exciting areas. On arrival to Kigali, the drive guide will drive you to your Kigali place of stay for dinner and overnight.

Day 22: Early Morning Kigali City Tour and Departure.

Following a cup of coffee, you will embark on an early morning City tour. The city tour will take you through Gisozi genocide memorial center where you will have time to listen to the comprehensive history of Rwanda during the 1994 genocide and the events of the massacres, including personal accounts. You will view the Photographs, video clips, and artifacts of the genocide. After touring the site, you will proceed to other attractive sites like Nyamata church, local markets within the city and after exploring the unique attractions within Kigali City; you will retire back to the lodge to have lunch. After lunch, the driver guide will drive you to Kanombe Airport for your scheduled flight back home.
