Rwanda Safari National Parks form the centerpiece of travel products explored on safaris in Rwanda.  Dubbed the land of a thousand hills due to her series of undulating hills, the destination Rwanda features four National Parks following the addition of the recently gazetted Gishwati – Mukula National Park.

Other three traditional National Parks include; Akagera National Park a savannah habitat to the east of Rwanda, Nyungwe Forest National Park a moist Afro montane habitat to the South west of Rwanda and Volcanoes National Park an alpine forest habitat on the slopes of Virunga Mountains to the north west of Rwanda.

Due to the distinctiveness in these Rwanda Safari National Parks, even the wildlife species that thrive in them differ.  Akagera National Park features a great deal of savannah dwelling species including; Leopards, lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, Elands, Maasai Giraffe, Zebras, Impala and Water bucks among others. Its labyrinth of wetland system feature series of lakes including Lake Ihema where Nile Crocodiles and Hippopotamus can be explored.

Nyungwe National Park supports thirteen (13) primate species including Eastern Chimpanzees, the largest grouping of Black and white colobus monkeys in Africa, blue monkey, L’Hoest Monkey and Owl faced monkey among others. The park’s lush forest cover presents a ground for the best adventure canopy walk in the whole of East Africa.

In Volcanoes National Park, the leading Rwanda Safari activity – the Mountain Gorilla Trekking is found here since the park features the only population of Mountain Gorillas in the whole of Rwanda with ten (10) habituated gorilla groups. Besides Mountain Gorillas, the park is home to the endangered Golden Monkeys thus providing ground for Golden Monkey tracking.

The Rwanda Safari packages as designed with Prime Safaris & Tours Ltd always bring out the best in each National Park to reward the travelers with lasting Africa Safari memories.
