Before their gazettion, these Uganda Safari parks were dwelling places for some of the tribal groups in the country which up to now have strong attachment to some of the places inside the National Parks which they considered sacred such as Bakonjo with the Rwenzori Mountains, Batwa with the forests of Mgahinga and Bwindi, the Bahima with the savannah stretches of Lake Mburo and Indigenous Karimojong with Kidepo.
